ESC wins repeal of 4056/86

The European Shippers' Council (ESC) has finally won its long, drawn-out battle to have Regulation 4056/86 repealed within the European Union (EU). The landmark decision, taken by the EU Competition Council at the end of September, will end liner conferences' automatic right to fix tariff prices and regulate vessel capacity in October 2008.
