Having a 50% share of global circulator pump sales, Danish manufacturer Grundfos has an extensive export operation. This involves many freight forwarders, including TNT, which is increasing the breadth of services it provides. Compared with some other shippers with export operations spanning virtually the whole globe, the Grundfos Group's seafreight volumes are not huge, totalling only about 2,000TEU a year. But this volume belies a logistics operation more complex than that of many larger exporters, particularly in Europe. Headquartered in Bjerringbro, Denmark, Grundfos is one of the world's biggest pump manufacturers, with annual revenues exceeding USD2 billion, and a 50% market share of global sales of circulator pumps. Not only does Grundfos sell its products in many countries, but the company's customer base is broad, covering both domestic and industrial applications. Grundfos' pumps are used for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning in houses and hotels, as well as in manufacturing processes, and in the water supply/wastewater industries.
