Why doesn't the general public understand what the container shipping industry does, and the extent of its contribution to everyday living? I love working in this industry, as you would expect, having done it for 40 years. I have always had the view that the shipping industry is central to the global economy. As a shipping man, I can see global trends in my everyday business well before they are published in the press or analysed by consultants.
