The Rafsanjan Pistachio Producers Cooperative (RPPC), which represents 70,000 pistachio nut growers in Iran, is expanding its export operation fast. Chris Thorby visited RPPC's Tehran office, and discovered that the co-operative sees new opportunities in Russia, adding to its established European and Asian operations. Pistachio nuts are big business in Iran. They are a good source of income for ocean carriers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and the economy of the country as a whole. Iran is the world's largest producer of pistachios, responsible for close to 50% of the global crop.
