Evergreen Marine reports increase in net profits

Taipei-headquartered Evergreen Marine Corp has reported healthy third quarter 2007 profits on the back of higher average freight rates, improved vessel operating margins and increased investment returns. While a full set of results were not forthcoming from the company, a head office spokesperson confirmed that net profit of TWD5.21 billion (USD161.3 million) in the July/September 2007 period compared with just TWD40.5 million in the corresponding period of 2006.
