Hapag-Lloyd on the road to recovery

Hapag-Lloyd Container Line's (HLCL) financial performance improved significantly in Q3, 2007, turning a loss making situation into a profit. This time a year ago, the carrier was reeling from the loss of CP Ship's cargo unwilling to be transferred, and high integration costs associated with its acquisition. The saviour this year is the Far East region which, compared to the same period in 2006, experienced a 19% increase in liftings, up to 359,000TEU, and a 17.5% increase in average revenue, up to USD1,459/TEU.
