APL to introduce 53-foot 'ocean capable' boxes

The global ocean carrier APL is set to introduce 53ft 'ocean capable' containers into the US deepsea market to cut out domestic transloading. It took delivery of the initial batch of these containers last month, and the first units were scheduled to be deployed on a weekly transpacific service between south China and the US west coast.
