Another new container terminal for Jacksonville

Attempts by Jacksonville (FL) to compete more effectively with the larger gateways on the US East Coast (USEC) have come a step closer, with plans for the development of a new USD360 million container terminal scheduled to open in 2011. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed between Hanjin and Jacksonville port authority (JAXPORT), to move forward on negotiations for construction, financing and operation of a 170-acre facility, with a 1 million TEU annual capacity.
