Matson Suffers First Half Dip

Hawaii-headquartered Alexander & Baldwin (A&B) reported operating profit (EBIT) decreases between H1 06 and 2007,for both its liner and logistics divisions.This was despite higher revenues. A&B is the parent company of the ocean carrier Matson Navigation Co, which operates US domestic and transpacific services, and Matson Integrated Logistics. In H1 07, Matson Navigation's revenues grew by 6%, up to USD511.4 million, while EBIT dropped by 8%, down to USD53.3 million. This resulted in a decrease in return on sales, from 11.9% to 10.4%.
