Evergreen/Coscon split CUE service

China based Coscon and Taiwan's Evergreen have split their jointly operated Asia/Central America CUE service. Each are now running their own service on this trade lane in order to add greater capacity and improve transit times. Coscon's new service is still known as CUE, and deploys 7× 2.800TEU vessels, an increase from the 4 × 2,800-3,400TEU vessels it previously used on its joint service. The port rotation is the same as the previous one, except Colon in Panama has been swapped for Balboa. A Coscon statement said: 'Calling at Balboa, with its rail connection to Cristabel [Santiago], will avoid the vessel delay [caused] by congestion in the Panama Canal and provide a speedy and congestion-free corridor between Far East and Central/South America.'
