Penang's NBCT phase III to start in summer

The construction work of the Phase III extension project at Penang's North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT) is scheduled to commence in three months' time, with a view to complete by 2010. Mahamed Naina Merican, coo of the Port of Penang, told CI: 'The Malaysian Government has invested in dredging, and the port will invest in both infrastructure and superstructure. 'On completion of this expansion project, the total annualised capacity of the port will increase from the present 1.2 million TEU to 1.8 million TEU.'
