Maersk to set up terminal in Neuss

Maersk Line has announced plans to construct a tri-modal container terminal on the river Rhine, at the German town of Neuss, which is close to Dusseldorf. Located 30km further upriver than Europe's largest inland port in Duisburg, it will become operational in 2009, and act mainly as a hub for the industrial Ruhr region. The facility will initially cover an area of 2.8ha, but Maersk Line has an option to extend this to 8.6ha.
