World fleet changes, February 2008

A total of 14 vessels with a combined capacity of 73,874TEU were ordered in February 2008, bringing the total on order to 6.49 million TEU (1,366 ships). This represented 59% of the fully-cellular, fleet in service. Newbuilding orders registered during the month included: 1. 6×8,750TEU units to be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for Hapag-Lloyd for delivery in 2011. This latest order raised the total number of vessels of this size on order for the carrier to 15, all due for delivery by the end of 2011.
