US port at odds over clean air push

Although the port authorities of Los Angeles and Long Beach have agreed to adopt the so-called Clean Trucks Program, which they initiated jointly, the two ports now, surprisingly, differ in one of the key components of the plan. Unlike the port of Los Angeles, the Port of Long Beach commissioners have voted unanimously to permit both independent owner/operator truck drivers and hourly-paid trucking company employees to dray containers within the port areas.
