New Australia/Asia alliance

As widely expected, APL is to finally join Hamburg Sud, HMM and Hapag-Lloyd's alliance between Asia and Australia as a vessel operator. Since parting company from Coscon at the end of last year, it has only been chartering slots from the alliance, so needed to find a more permanent position. That position will be to continue buying slots on the AAUS service in the slack season until April 2008. Thereafter, APL will become a vessel provider in a completely revised service offering.
