In 200o the cargo throughput in Klaipeda Port reached the largest ever amount -30 million tons of cargo. In terms of container handling, the Port is a front runner among the Baltic ports. Last year, the record number of containers was handled in Klaipeda - 373 263 TEU's. Compared to 2007 (when 321 432 TEU's were handled) the annual growth reached 16 per cent.rnThere are two container terminals in Klaipeda Port: JSC 'Klaipeda Container Terminal' and JSC 'Klaipedos Smelte'.
