In a briefing to the press following its annual meeting in London, the Global Shippers Forum (GSF) announced that it was 'contemplating a more formal structure'.rnThe European Shippers' Council' (ESC's) chairman, Dick van den Broek Humphreij, said: 'The GSF is now in a stage of development that we are contemplating a more formal organisation. It is a question of how to constitute the GSF in the future.'rnThe executive described how the GSF was growing every year and how issues that needed addressing, such as security, the environment, trade facilitation and Customs were global in nature.rn'When we started meeting', said van den Broek Humphreij, 'we were focused entirely on maritime regulation and while this is still important there are other issues that could reverse the tide of liberalisation and competition in trade and international transport.'
