'In the last decade, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) has become the principal container port in India,' Raghu Dayal, the founding managing director of Container Corporation of India (Concor) told CI.rn'But, it has its limitations both on the capacity front and with its draught (12.5m alongside) and these will limit the port's long-term prospects.rn'In contrast, the up and coming ports of Mundra and Pipavav have plenty of land for development purposes and draughts of up to 17m. This is a vital requirement in today's environment and gives them better trading prospects in the long run. On top of everything else, these are private sector well-managed ports.'
