Much has changed for the better in German ports over the past year, but the big event that everyone has been waiting for in Hamburg, namely the decision to dredge the River Elbe, wasn't one of them. Super-post-panamax vessels still have to enter and leave the port within narrow tidal windows making scheduling difficult and stretching ocean carriers' patience to the limit (see table 1).
