Atlantic Council posts West Africa security alert

The Washington (DC)-based Atlantic Council, a think-tank which undertakes research to assist the US Government and its allies in dealing with international issues, has called for greater vigilance and resource being allocated to West Africa in a new report. The report, entitled 'Advancing US, African, and Global Interests: Security and Stability in the West African Maritime Domain', claims that weak governments in countries along the oil and gas rich Gulf of Guinea needed help in protecting their territories from terrorists, drug and human traffickers.
