Maersk Line will increase rates on all reefer cargo by USD1.500 per FEU from January 1, 2013, a hike that Soren Skou, ceo of the carrier, said was equivalent to an 'across the board rise of 30% on a global scale'. The world's largest liner shipping company announced the measure at the Cool Logistics conference in Antwerp in late September, with the ceo stressing that it was a decision that the carrier had not taken lightly, but one that was 'absolutely necessary'.
