At a global level, MDS Transmodal (MDS T) estimates that total loaded maritime TEU volume grew by 6% between Ql 11 and Ql 12. However, that growth is now reversing and Q2 12 volumes may be marginally below those of Q2 11. Overall, cargo volumes for 2012 could now prove to be no greater than those of 2011. On the basis of earlier trends, suppressed demand from 2012 will then lead to growth in 2013 (projected +7%).
