As ever, the US authorities have acted with commendable alacrity to the growing international problem of port congestion, delays and what appears to be an acute shortage of inland transport services across a range of geographic locations. The US Federal Maritime Commission's series of port congestion forums, bringing together all parties of the maritime supply chain to identify solutions to the problem, is an imaginative response to the current problems experienced in the country.
