On the basis of trade data available in mid-September, MDS Transmodal estimates that global trade (excluding intra-regional flows), has grown by 5% during the first half of 2015 compared with the same period last year, with the second quarter estimated to have grown by 5.8%. For this edition, MDST has monitored the American trade lanes and reports that exports from North America are estimated to have grown by 45% during the second quarter of 2015 while a slightly higher annual growth rate is estimated for exports from Latin America. In the opposite direction, MDST estimates that while North American countries have seen an increase of 10% in their imports during the second quarter of 2015 compared to the same period last year, cargo arriving into Latin America has risen by a lower rate during the same period (3%).
