Cosco joins 20,000 teu club

China Cosco Holdings Company has signed long-expected contracts for a fleet of 11 containerships across four Chinese yards with a total value of $1.5bn. The contracts are all for vessels of between 19,000 teu-20,000 teu, with each ship scheduled for delivery in 2018. Cosco will pay $135.3m each for two vessels to be built at Dalian Cosco KHI Ship Engineering and the same price for four vessels from Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering.
