ZIM Line is probably in better shape to weather the current container shipping slump than many of its competitors, chief executive Rafi Danieli reckons as he prepares to step down after seven years in charge. For years, the Israeli carrier appeared the most vulnerable of the top 20 players as debts ballooned and losses soared. But after two financial restructurings and a complete re-think about Zim's business model, the line is back in the black and performing somewhat better than most other container lines. Alphaliner noted that the carrier's operating margin in the first nine months of 2015 was the fifth highest in the industry, at 1.6%.
