XIAMEN saw container volumes for 2016 rise 4.7% to 9.6m teu compared with the previous year. The port authority has been actively promoting transhipment via domestic and foreign trade, with one initiative being a direct weekly service from Xiamen Haitong Container Terminal to Lianyungang Port. To date, the port can accommodate containerships of around 21,000 teu in size.
