MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Co has confirmed it will retrofit 31 of its boxships in an effort to optimise cargo capacity. Lloyd's List Containers reported in August that the carrier planned to retrofit a number of ships in its fleet to raise their capacity by capitalising on lighter cargoes, which will enable it to have higher stacks of containers on the decks of its ships without jeopardising safety.
