Development of a new structural design code for reinforced concrete in Hong Kong

The Buildings Department (BD) of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region Government has commissioned Babtie Asia Ltd to carry out a consultancy study on the structural use of reinforced concrete using limit state design. The ultimate objective was to draft a new limit state design code for use in Hong Kong to replace the current Hong Kong code of practice. This paper briefly outlines the particular requirements of Hong Kong, the areas of research and the proposed structure of the new Code of Practice.
