Centennial Bridge -the second bridge across the Panama Canal

The construction of the Panama Canal was completed in August 1914. The surface traffic across the new canal had to use a narrow passage integrated into the Gatun locks on the Atlantic side and a steel bridge with movable parts close to the Miraflores lock next to the Pacific entrance. In 1962, the bridge, now known as the Bridge of the Americas, was opened to traffic.
