For the last three years, residents of the busy Lai Chi Kok district of Kowloon Island, Hong Kong have been treated to the spectacle of a 175m-long moving gantry lifting viaduct sections of up to 100 tonnes over traffic and buildings. Like a giant jigsaw, the last of the 1766 segments of the 1.4km-long Lai Chi Kok Viaduct (LCKV) has recently been put into place.
