Almost 20 years ago in 1989, German flooring firm CBL Chemobau purchased one of the first Somero S-240 Laser Screed machines in Germany. The company has since been able to create monolithic concrete floors that combine a high-load resistance with a smooth-surface quality for the large warehouses specified by major customers such as Kaufland Group Moeckmuehl in Germany and five Lidl store projects in Italy that totalled 140,000m~2. As companies continue to increase the distribution of their goods around the globe, the construction of large industrial warehouses with consistent flooring standards gains importance in a company's overall logistics strategy. Everything that happens in a building needs a sound platform from which to operate - manufacturing, storage and distribution or retail; the concrete floors form the base on which the activities are carried out. The scale of these facilities and the speed with which they are constructed has increased in Europe, as well as in the United States, the Middle East and Asia.
