The headlong rise in office rents in the south-east Asian financial hub of Singapore has propelled it into the ranks of the world's ten most expensive office locations. Despite the high price level, premium office space in central locations is as sought-after as ever. Against this backdrop of high demand and correspondingly high yield expectations, massive investment is pouring into the construction of new commercial property. One of the latest examples is the Mapletree Anson office building, in the heart of Singapore's Central Business District, where main contractor Shimizu is erecting an almost loom-tall office complex with 19 typical storeys and over 30,000m~2 of use-able floor-space.
