CONTAINER shipping needs to look to technology and digital solutions if it is to better collaborate and prosper amid difficult trading conditions. "Everyone knows our industry needs to stop thinking inside the box and to start thinking outside the box in a fast-changing industry in order to survive in the future," Ocean Network Express vice-president Kosuke Wada told the Global Liner Shipping conference in Singapore. "The container shipping sector has faced challenges historically," Mr Wada said. "To address the challenges, companies have accelerated consolidation via alliances, and mergers and acquisitions, in search for economies of scale."
