Colorization is the application of color to grayscale images. There are several reasons that colorization is useful. For example, grayscale satellite images are cheaper to create, and colorization can be applied to these satellite images to get a photorealistic terrain model that is used for flight simulators.rnIt is well known that image colorizing is an ill-posed problem. For aerial-space imagery, the colorization result depends on many factors (sun elevation angle, season, and so on). The existing techniques in the literature are artist-based, reference image-based, or swatch-based, with significant interferences.
