Wireless networks and mobile computing are changing the world of computers and computation. These technologies are used to connect to distributed computing environments, both academic and corporate. The available technical literature describes the technological aspects of these networks and computing devices. However, the mobile computer connects to the wireless (or wired) hosts by using distributed algorithms, which control the efficiency and performance of the operation. The sources that cover the algorithmic aspects of wireless networks and mobile computing are not easily available. This handbook is an attempt to cover these aspects, so that workers in this field will get both the technical and the algorithmic perspectives.
