In the rush to provide online education, many seasoned faculty members place their traditional lecture materials on Web pages, without analyzing the differences in delivery mechanisms. To manage courses, many resort to off-the-shelf applications, without carefully redesigning their course content.rnThe authors propose a course design methodology based on the ADDIE model [1]. They use the Web-based instructional design patterns proposed by Frizell and Hiibscher [2]. Also, they host it on an open-source virtual learning environment (VLE) implemented at the Technical University of Valencia. Their methodology identifies gaps between the traditional course and the intended online format.
