In nine chapters, this book covers the latest techniques and approaches in hardware design for medical imaging of the human body. There are four distinct sections that discuss the four modalities in digital imaging: "X-Ray Imaging and Computed Tomography," "Nuclear Medicine (SPECT and PET)," "Ultrasound Imaging," and "Magnetic Resonance Imaging." The editor notes that these four main modalities function with vastly varying frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum, but there are still many overlapping commonalities in their signal processing: signal amplification, filtering, multiplexing, and analog-to-digital conversions.
