Gryc introduces the work of a community-based organization called Shining Hope for the Community (SHOFCO). SHOFCO works to improve the lives of youth in Kibera, a Kenyan slum. He discusses how the specific structure of SHOFCO social and communication networks, international supporters, and geographically dispersed local organizations makes the overall goal of SHOFCO a success.rnGryc's discussions relate to two areas: social network theory and human-computer interaction (HCI) in developing countries.
