Zeng and Veeravalli address the problem of load balancing for large-scale multimedia storage systems though an architecture called the autonomous object-based storage device (AOSD). This well-written paper intends to address the need for an effective balancing scheme for coordinated services in distributed file systems.rnThe paper's major contribution is for problems that require continuous-time presentations; by exploiting the use of peer-to-peer (P2P)-based content distribution techniques to distribute workloads between all AOSD servers, it streamlines autonomous communication for load balancing among metadata servers, allowing them to "focus on searching for the locations of the requested objects."
