Comparing and contrasting different algorithms leads to increased student learning

Is it better to present students simultaneously with two versions of code for an algorithm, or to show them one and then the other? This paper presents a reasonably thorough analysis that suggests those who saw the two versions in parallel performed better on tests on the topic.
