Public key cryptography immediately comes to mind when considering a tool of the trade to establish trust relationships between parties that have no preexisting security arrangement. This book, an elaboration of the author's PhD thesis, presents alternative approaches to the development of secure two-party computation protocols based on secure function evaluation (SFE). In SFE, two mutually mistrusting parties (client and server, for example) can evaluate an arbitrary function f of their respective inputs x and y (which are kept secret), revealing only the result z = f(x,y).
