This team of authors affiliated with Cisco Systems provides unique insight into one of. the most promising and sustainable information technology (IT) markets. Cloud computing is already a reality. From an end-user perspective, only the final service is relevant and visible; most of the complexity in the design and implementation of the underlying network infrastructure, the service configuration, and other technical details is hidden. This book takes on the very challenging task of revealing these hidden details to the reader, while still remaining at an appropriate level of abstraction. This is not easy: some concepts must be illustrated with hands-on technology and vendor-specific hardware, while a general and more conceptual view should remain vendor neutral. Although some examples in the book rely on the Cisco family of Catalyst switches, I appreciate the fact that the authors do not go into proprietary configuration details.
