My privacy is okay, but theirs is endangered: Why comparative optimism matters in online privacy concerns

The authors describe a study that was done in 2012 of 2,028 South Koreans. The survey was done on the Internet and took about 25 minutes. Participants ranged in age from 19 to over 50. The authors found weak support for the hypothesis that people generally "perceive the likelihood of ... privacy infringement to be lower than that for comparison targets."
