PCL constructors Inc. had to build two new IT systems, but the company had a dilemma: It could build the applications using older technology that had already been tested on the marketplace or gamble with a newer version that had not yet been tried in the business world. It chose the latter course. The general contractor was looking for project document control and safety management centre systems, but could not find any off-the-shelf tools that met its needs.
