iPad Intro Brings A Nasty Surprise

A couple of weeks ago, the author noticed that a lot of people were using Apple iPads in their conference rooms. The company hasn't bought any iPads. To remedy this situation, the author needed to find out why it was so easy for users to attach personal devices to the company's network and how that came to pass. What he learned was that the seeds of the problem were planted last year, when they were deciding how phones would synchronize with Microsoft ActiveSync. So now the author has a new task at hand that will more than likely cause him a lot of grief: to pull back current certificates, re-architect and reissue nonexportable certificates, and restrict them to the guest wireless access.
