IT INTEGRATION KEY TO U.S. SECURITY

The success of the proposed Department of Homeland Se- curity ― the biggest reorganization of the federal government in six decades ― hinges on IT systems integration, security experts said last week. The cabinet-level department would combine tens of thousands of federal officials from up to 100 agencies under one command structure. It would focus exclusively on all aspects of homeland security, including terrorism defense, cybersecurity and protection of critical infrastructure.
