摘要

The idea for this special issue came from a track 'Scheduling in Manufacturing Systems' presented at the 13th IFAC Symposium on Information Control Problems in Manufacturing (INCOM 2009) which was held on June 3-5, 2009, at the Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow/ Russia. This IFAC symposium is worldwide recognized as one of the leading IFAC conferences promoting research in the fields of industrial engineering, automatic control, computer science and engineering and information technology applied to manufacturing systems. The symposium in Moscow has been attended by 654 scientists including 112 industrial representatives. After the symposium in Moscow, a special issue under the same title was prepared, where the subject was broadened. The organizers of this track at INCOM 2009 have also edited this issue, which intends to give the state-of-the-art of scheduling research that satisfies practical needs of modern manufacturing and resource planning. In particular, the aim of this issue was to attract high-quality papers representing the most recent developments of models and solution techniques used for scheduling in manufacturing systems which include parallel as well as multistage facilities, coordinating scheduling with transportation decisions, and scheduling in segments of a supply chain. As potential topics, the following areas were suggested:
