Carrying surfaces for return maps of averaged logistic maps

We analyze the average of two iterated logistic maps in both the uncoupled and coupled cases and show that the resulting sequence can be seen as lying on the graph of a function of two variables which we call a carrying surface. Experimenting with different graphical representations of the data led us to discover this surface.
