Feminist Rhetorical Practices in Digital Spaces

摘要

This article argues that digital spaces, even those that are gendered male either implicitly or explicitly, rely on feminist rhetorical practices for their functionality and theoretical underpinnings. While many of these spaces are still overtly hostile to participation by women and minorities, this hostility is at odds with the rhetorics that shape the cultures of the sites/movements in question, and is therefore ultimately counterproductive for the goals of these spaces. Diversity is, therefore, not only essential as a goal of intersectional feminism, but also as a means of continuing success for digital movements.
